Brian J HensmanBrian J Hensman FCA (Senior Partner)

Brian trained with the firm after leaving school in 1966. After qualifying, he moved to Moore Stephens in London for three years to gain experience in a larger firm, returning as a Partner in 1976. Brian specialises in advising Medical Practitioners and the firm is a member of AISMA (Association of Independent Specialist Medical Advisors), he acts for in excess of 250 General Practitioners, including a large number of Medical Consultants. regular AISMA & ICAEW courses are attended to ensure being completely up to date with changes in the industry. Brian also acts for a large portfolio of non-corporate professionals, including a number of Solicitorsí Practices. In addition, Brian runs our small business department which deals with all compliance issues for smaller businesses, including accounts, book-keeping, management accounting, VAT, Self Assessment Returns and construction industry compliance. Brian is the firmís Managing Partner dealing with all practice administration and IT.

Barry OwenBarry Owen Bsc (Hons) FCA

Barry trained with Coopers & Lybrand. After qualifying in 1979, Barry moved to The Carley Partnership 18 months later, where he became a Partner. Specialising in audits and business consultancy, Barry is the firmís Audit Compliance Partner. He has a diverse client portfolio and in particular is involved in advising many businesses in the building and construction industry. Barry deals with the firmís larger audit clients and also specialises in company reconstructions. In addition, Barry oversees our successful company formations service and company secretarial department. Barryís particular area of interest is advising clients on profitability, tax planning and wealth management. Very hands on as an advisor he is seen as a key part of his clients success in business.

Claire RalphClaire M. Ralph ACA FCCA

After qualifying with a London firm in 1994 Claire moved to a larger Practice where she gained valuable experience in Practice Management and Marketing.

Claire joined The Carley Partnership in 2000 and became a Partner in 2002. Claire deals with a varied portfolio of clients in all fields. Dealing with audit, accounts and taxation she likes to offer a proactive business advisory service. Her particular area of interest is that of Corporate Finance. Claire advises clients on valuing their business, grooming it ready for sale and dealing with the sale process itself. She also advises clients in all aspects of purchasing a business from finance to due diligence.

Samantha HaughtonSamantha E. Haughton FCCA

Samantha joined the firm in 1989 after leaving school in Dublin. Samantha has had a major role in building and expanding the Medical Specialist Department within the firm. She has extensive experience in dealing with all accounting, tax and superannuation issues for General Practitioners, Locums, Partnerships and Private Consultants. Regular attendance at AISMA and ICAEW conferences ensures Samantha is completely up to date with changes within the industry. Her client base also includes large partnerships and LLPs

Associates

David StaceyDavid A Stacey FCCA

David joined the firm initially in 1991 working primarily in the accounts preparation and audit functions. He left in 1996 to work for Moores Rowland and then subsequently with BDO Stoy Hayward. Having qualified with BDO, he returned to The Carley Partnership as a manager in 2000 and became an Associate on 1st January 2009. David specialises in limited company accounts and audits, and has experience in corporate finance and company secretarial matters.

Martin EntwistleMartin J Entwistle FCCA

Martin orignially worked for Rowland Hall and moved to The Carley Partnership in 1994. Martin specialises in all areas of taxation including the taxation of owner managed business and company reconstructions. Martin also has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Construction Industry being an accredited Accountax Construction Industry Consultant. He also specialises in Tax Status and IR35 issues.

Tanja LawesTanja Lawes FCA

Tanja joined the firm in 1998 after graduating from Oxford Brooks University. She specialises in OMB limited companies, in particular helping clients to navigate all aspects of the first few years of set up and advising on tax efficiencies for the company and director/shareholders. She is therefore in a good position to help businesses as they grow and has experience in dealing with group companies. Tanja is also part of our audit team and advises clients in regard to bookkeeping software, in particular Kashflow and Xero.

Anthony udenAnthony Uden ACA

Anthony joined The Carley Partnership in 2007 upon leaving Chatham Grammar School for Boys after completing his A levels. He is our Small Business manager, dealing with Sole Traders and partnerships, as well as small Limited companies. He also carries out our SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules audits for our Solicitors clients. Away from the office he is a keen golfer and spends a lot of his spare time on the course.

JennyJenny Morton

Jenny joined the firm in 2000 after completing her A-levels. With a short period away at another practice she re-joined the firm in 2012. She mainly deals with OMB limited companies and sole traders. Jenny often assists clients with their bookkeeping queries and software, in particular Sage and Kashflow.

LucieLucie M Boaler BA FCA

Lucie joined the firm in 2002 after graduating from the University of Kent at Canterbury. She specialises in the Medical Specialist Department within the firm and deals with accounting, tax and superannuation issues, for General Practitioners, Locums, Partnerships and Private Consultants. She also advises clients in regards to book keeping software including Iris GP Accounts software and Sage as well as issues regarding VAT Partial Exemption.

Alison J DixonAlison J Dixon BSc ACA

Alison joined The Carley Partnership in 2002 after graduating from The University of Hull. She specialises in the Medical Industry and has experience in dealing with accounting, tax and pension issues for General Practitioners, Locums, Partnerships and Private Consultants. She also advises clients in regards to book keeping software in particular Iris GP Accounts software.

Emma GiffordEmma Gifford BSc ACA

Emma joined the firm in 2004 after graduating from the University of Canterbury Christchurch. She specialises in the Healthcare Department within the firm and deals with accounting, tax and superannuation issues for Limited Companies, General Practitioners, Locums, Partnerships and Private Consultants. She also deals with OMB Limited Companies and sole traders, as well as SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules audits for our Solicitor clients. Emma offers assistance to clients with their book keeping queries in particular Sage.

Tax Client Manager

AmandaAmanda Davies

Amanda joined the firm in June 2010 after working with HM Revenue & Customs, Moores Rowland and BDO and then various local accountants. Amanda is a member of our Tax Department and specialises in personal taxation. Her particular experience is with double taxation for non and dual residents, non domiciles together with other areas of international personal taxation. In addition Amanda is adept at dealing with matters associated with HM Revenue & Customs such as The Let Property Campaign.

Trust & Estate Planning

Natalie ButtNatalie Butt LLB (Hons) TEP

Natalie joined the Carley Partnership In July 2010 as a qualified Solicitor. Since then Natalie has successfully completed her STEP diploma in Trust and Estates in April 2014.

Natalie specialises in Trusts, Estates, Succession and Inheritance Tax planning. Predominantly dealing with the tax and accounting affairs of Trusts, Trustees, Beneficiaries (in particular children) and Executors.
